I've been a longtime Melitta coffee making system user. I have used a french press before but was not impressed with the glass or plastic that they were made of. This french press coffee maker is make of stainless steel with a solid, con-conductive hand grip. It holds a solid 4 cups of liquid (about 3+ cups of coffee - standard size coffee mug). It keeps the coffee hot for at least an hour thanks to the double-wall construction. The lid can turn to block the pour spout to help keep it hot too. The handle is firm with accessible phillipscrews underneath if you ever wanted to remove or re-tighten. No more glass, plastic or paper filters! It works beautifully and the coffee is smoother than when I was using the Melitta system (paper filters trap most of the good/healthy coffee bean oils). There is a small amount of very fine residual grind left in my cup that I love (reminds me of some of the best barista coffees I've enjoyed). Only ding I can say is that it didn't come with any instructions for use or care. If you haven't used a french press before - there are plenty of instructional websites around to assist you with using basic amounts of coursely-ground coffee/water ratios (I used 5 tablespoons to 4 cups of 200 degree water).
8/24/2016 - Stupid me - Evidently I lost a part of the press while I was cleaning it and I can't use it any more without it... It's the part that the plunger fits into to sandwich the plates firmly together... I never saw it. I'm trying to contact the company to see about another part. We'll see how it goes... It's was sold by Reapow through Amazon, Made by Ecooe.
8/24/2016 - Amazon is on it! An hour after I sent Amazon a message as to what to do - They offered me a full refund and want me to sent the item back to them using a UPS scanable return code. Sorry and Thanks.
8/25/2016 - Ecooe (the manufacturer) responded to my query about the lost part. They do not have any replacement parts to sell/replace. They apologized and recomme.....
