Sweet tea is a very popular drink in the southern states of US, which is always called as iced tea by Southerners. It is  is named for its two key ingredients – tea and sugar. Unlike its summer-loving Northern iced tea, Southerners consume sweet tea year-round and not just during summer. It has always been a substitute beverage for what wine was doing in southern regions.

Most of the time, iced tea is made from hot tea. Brew the hot water and then chill to serve. Besides, you can brew your tea with cold water. Steep the tea in cold or room temperature water overnight in the fridge to make the iced tea. (How to make cold brew tea)

Sweet tea, as the name implies, is sweet. Besides that, it is characterized by an extremely strong tea taste. Why? Sweet tea is usually brewed in boiling water, with tea bags squeezed to get every last bit of flavor. 

Though, some of the iced tea is brewed in hot water, but it is always not brewed in boiling water and is not squeezed. If you are cold brewed the tea, the taste differs more. Cold brew tea tastes sweet and smooth.
