Healthy Tips of Washing Clothes in a Washing Machine

Are you doing laundry right? Knowing how to wash clothes in a washing machine – without ruining them – is a basic life skill. Here a list of tips shows you how to correctly wash your clothes.

1. Separate and divide clothes

While washing, it is necessary to separate clothes based on color and fabric tape. Separate light-colored clothes from dark ones and also separate clothes by fabric and texture. You can use mesh laundry bag to protect your delicate items.  Besides, do remember separate your underwear from other clothes. It’s best for you to hand wash your underwear or bra.

2. Wash inside out

Turning your clothes inside out will protect them from fading – especially for dark denim and pants. Also, you should turn the garments with beading and print inside out to protect them from damaging.

3. Wash with right water temperature

Water temperature is very important while washing clothes in washing machine. Hot water (130°F or above) is best to remove germs and heavy soil. However, not all clothes can wash with hot water, for it can shrink, fade and even damage some fabric. So, be sure to read your clothing labels. To wash fine fabrics, delicates, sweaters, denim, and clothes that may shrink, use cold water. And warm water (90°F) works best with whites and lights.

4. Use the right detergents

Using excessive amounts of detergent is one of the most common mistakes. Use less than the bottle say while doing laundry. Too much detergent will leave build-up on your clothes. Choose a gentle detergent to wash your clothes.

5. Regularly clean the washing machine

Incorrect washing machine maintenance can result in poor clothes cleaning. You should clean your machine from inside to outside to avoid buildup of mould, mildew and scum.
