What is Shelf Life?

Actually, there are two kinds of shelf life, one is for sealed state and another for opened state. If you have opened it, even if you just sniffed for one second, that counts opened.

Once the cosmetic contacted with air, it may be contaminated, especially lipsticks and creams of that contains more oil. It’s recommended to use it up within its shelf life. Most cosmetics will label or print their shelf life on package or on the product body, usually for 12 months and 36 months. For cosmetics which shelf life is less than 30 months must be marked with “best before” date according to common regulations in the most of the countries, if your cosmetics don’t label the date out.

How to Store Your Cosmetics?

Cosmetics must be stored in dry, shade and places with proper temperature. You’d better try to avoid places like car, bathroom, and window sill, near the computer or thermal oil heater. The easiest to ignored place must be places near the computer air outlet. The repeating heating and cooling will affect the active ingredients of your cosmetics. Try to store your cosmetics in shade with temperature range from 5℃ to 25 ℃. For cosmetics contain oil or cream series, it is not recommend putting them into the refrigerator, because they will become heavy and sticky under low temperature. While nail polish, perfume, spay are suitable for refrigerator.
